Chris Caffery - WHY [Lyric Video by Rob Harwood] (HD)

This has to be one of the more powerful songs I’ve heard in a long while. I feel like “Why“ is in some ways a continuation of Savatage’s “Morphine Child“, both musically and lyrically. The lyrics in “Why“ seem to depict the heartbreaking events that the ’thief’ in “Morphine Child“ is reporting on, and of course the main guitar riff is very reminiscent as well. Definitely a cool connection as “Morphine Child“ is one of my all-time favorite Savatage songs. This song also brought back many memories of Dead Winter inclusion of the picture of the cellist playing in the war-ravaged ruins was a nod to the events of that album, in particular the historic “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)“. I found I had to take frequent breaks while working on this because the combination of the moving lyrics and the devastating imagery for hours on end was emotionally draining.
