Zoriuszka is one of the oldest Slavic songs, originating from the
From the heritage of the Eastern Slavs. It is interpreted as a ritual song that was sung in the early morning hours on the bride and groom’s wedding day.
The video loosely alludes to the fact that the song has its genesis in the worship of the goddess Aurora, which was common in Slavia. She is known in Slavic folklore as the disposition of the dawn Zoria Utrienniaja (Morning Aurora) and the dusk Zoria Wieczerniaja (Evening Aurora). Depending on tradition, it can appear in the singular, two, three, or, as in our case, eleven sisters.
The video also presents the symbolism of water (the female attribute personified by the bride) and fire (the male attribute personified by the groom), which is important for the Slavs. The created show in the convention of an “old fairy tale“ is tied together by the figure of Zerca - a Slavic priest.
