IS-2 vs SUPER PERSHING | 122mm BR-471B Spaced Armour Piercing Simulation

The “Super Pershing“ was an up-gunned and up-armoured variant of the American M26 Pershing during WW2. It’s overlapping boiler plates and hull armour were designed to combat the 88mm Tiger II, but how would it fair against a larger, heavier round, with increased sloped armour penetration, such as the 122mm BR-471B? The BR-471B round could perforate the Panther’s upper plate at well over 1km, and was generally more effective against sloped armour than the 88mm -due to its blunt nose and increased mass. The simulation presents an interesting result as the 122mm round performed far worse than the 88mm one shown previously: While the blunt nose reduces the ’turning away from the plate’ effect when striking a plate, it hinders the ’turning towards the plate’ effect when perforating the back of the plate (evident in the linked video^). This isnt an issue when its only a single plate, b
