Eaters of the Soil - Under the Surface from the self-titled debut EP (2021, Forbidden Place Records). Check the full EP at Eaters of the Soil was formed during the corona pandemic and lockdown in Utrecht, the Netherlands in December 2020. The band takes a non-traditional approach to doom metal by merging it with noise, dark jazz and improv – while keeping it instrumental. Though vocals are absent, through the use of speech samples the band explores the dark and manipulative side of the human mind. While being a new band the collective efforts of the band’s members stretch from underground metal (a.o. Devious, Next Waste Dimension, The Howl Ensemble) to noise improv collective Lärmschutz and collabs with artists like Dirk Serries, Mauro Pawlowski (dEUS, Evil Superstars) and Trevor Dunn (Fantômas, John Zorn’s Masada).
