A playthrough of Hudson’s 1987 action-puzzle game for the Nintendo, Lode Runner. Lode Runner was a very early game in the life of the 8-bit Nintendo. It was one of the first third-party licensed games to be released on the Famicom in 1984, and it was a port of the amazingly popular computer game released back in 1983. The premise is deceptively simple: armed with just a shovel and your wits, you must collect all of the treasure in each cave and escape. The caves, however, are filled with monsters - or in the NES version, Bombermen - that will do their utmost to prevent that from happening. They will pursue you relentlessly, and you have to be careful to not let them trap you as you scurry around for piles of gold. You can temporarily stop them by digging holes for them to fall into, but it doesn’t take them long to climb their way out and resume their chase.
