The Industry-Defying Success of Bode

Bode has been on an endless upwards trajectory since its debut in 2016. They’ve opened three retail stores and have shown presentations or catwalks in both Paris and New York. But how have they managed to keep up this success? In honesty, I cannot tell if the company is profitable. Media success doesn’t always translate into sales. However, with the seemingly organic celebrity fanbase and interesting differentiator within the industry, it’s certainly possible they are making a small profit. I am, however, interested in what their game plan is. I don’t think Emily is in the position to take over a design role at a major house in order to earn enough to sustain the business and generally speaking they seem switched on enough to know it’s advisable to have a long term strategy for after the boom to ensure survival in the inevitable rough months all brands go through. So for this reason Im curious to know if the brand will be sold on in that case, if their goal is to build brand value until it is able to make them a tidy profit? Whatever it may be, unfortunately we simply cannot know until they choose to tell us. So for now, I’m just glad to see someone pushing the boundaries of what luxury fashion retail can be, because if it is as profitable as it seems, that is such a significant achievement.
