When the folks at Japan Ponycon reached out to me to write a song for their album Japan Pony Party, I immediately started thinking about how it should go. In that process, I began missing how it felt to be there— but less in simply remembering a good time, and more almost in a way of being homesick? I wanted to capture both the joyful feelings I had from exploring Tokyo with my friends, and the sorrow of that first farewell.

VERSE 1
The final sunrise
dances on my face
JR is rollin’ in, farewell is coming
From Kawaguchi, Tokyo to Narita
I can’t help the tears from fallin’
BRIDGE
Ueno green
Bathed in the sunlight
Tokyo city glow in the moonlight
I can’t turn away
Why is it over
Wishing that I could stay for another
CHORUS
Goodbye Japan
I’m gonna be right back
I’ll keep a dream of you
Wherever I go
Goodbye Japan
Already miss you now
Don’t wanna go away
Until tomorrow
VERSE 2
I haven’t even gone
But I’ve a plan
for my tomorrow
Get me through my sorrow
See me arriving
once more to this
Golden land
I need one more time to see the…
