Despite its recent makeover, it’s a bit trashy. Don’t miss the Palais Royal. 2nd arrondissement: Young and lively, especially around Rue Montorgueil. For a quieter experience, visit the elegant Galerie Vivienne. 3rd & 4th arrondissements (which make up the Marais): A busy mix of locals and tourists, with historic Jewish and gay communities.
