The US rushed to deploy B-52 bombers laden with bombs to the Russian border.
Several US Air Force B-52 strategic bombers were deployed directly to the Russian border. US Air Force B-52 strategic bombers flew over the Baltic states and the Gulf of Finland in a state of attack readiness. The bombers approached the Russian island of Suursaari, which lies 40 km from the Finnish coast and less than 200 kilometers west of St. Petersburg which is the center of the Russian radar station and helicopter base. The Russian Air Force immediately prevented US B-52 bombers with Su-35 fighter jets from entering Russian territory. Russia says it will shoot down the B-52 bomber if it enters its territory.
