Israeli police fire ’skunk spray’ at ultra-orthodox protesters
(26 Nov 2017) Israeli police doused a crowd of protesters blocking Jerusalem traffic with a powerful burst of “skunk“ spray - water treated with a foul-smelling chemical used to disperse protests on Sunday.
Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews from a radical sect blocked roads in Jerusalem bringing traffic to a standstill.
Sunday’s protest was the latest by the Peleg Yerushalmi group after some of its members were arrested after refusing to perform compulsory military service.
Police said some 36 were arrested.
