Jan van Kessel the Elder at BRAFA 2014 - Costermans of Brussels

In this video a major work by Jan van Kessel the Elder (Antwerp, 1626-1679). Discover his study of shells, butterflies and insects with gooseberries and flowers. Van Kessel painted these subjects with an almost photographic precision. He responded to a demand of the aristocratic and royal classes of his time.
