Camille Saint-Saëns - Allegro appassionato, in B minor
Christophor Miroshnikov, cello
Natalia Miroshnikova, piano
Saint-Saëns composed Allegro appassionato, in 1873, shortly after his famous first cello concerto. It combines the brilliance of virtuosic passages and intense lyricism. Allegro appassionato has become a standard showpiece in the cello repertoire, largely thanks to Pablo Casals, and is often performed with orchestra, as well as in its original form for cello and piano.
