Trucker convoy: Fort Erie truck driver says it’s time to end COVID-19 mandates

A convoy of truckers and their supporters have been rolling on highways across the country towards Canada’s capital city. The group is protesting a federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate that came into effect on Jan. 15 which requires unvaccinated or partially vaccinated truck drivers crossing the Canada-U.S. border to quarantine for 14 days. Fort Erie trucker Harold Jonker, co-owner of Jonker Trucking, says he’s taking part in the “Freedom Convoy” to “stand up for our freedoms. It’s been two years since they said two weeks to flatten the curve and I think Canadians are saying we need to move on, we need to continue on in life, we need to end all mandates,” Jonker said.
