Battotai (Drawn Sword Regiment), also known as the Japanese Army Branch March, is a Japanese March composed by Charles Leroux in 1912. It was used as the anthem of the the Imperial Japanese Army, and is used as a March for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. The name derives from the Battotai regiment, which defeated the Satsuma Rebellion at the Battle of Tabaruzaka by engaging in unexpected hand-to-hand combat.
