Poem of Ecstasy - Alexander Scriabin

This live recording took place in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh in 1987 during the Edinburgh Festival. The conductor was Alexander Lazarev. I was present with members of Dorset Youth Orchestra and it turned out to be an occasion not to be missed. This is very much old-school Soviet playing. A massive orchestra, old instruments and the musicians were accompanied by KGB agents to avoid defections! I have left the BBC announcer’s voice in place.
