Freed hostage Yocheved Lifshitz described how she was kidnapped by Hamas and taken into a “spiderweb” of tunnels in Gaza. The hostage said Hamas fighters removed her watch and jewelry and then forced her to walk through fields before reaching a tunnel network. The 85-year-old hostage described the tunnel network something as similar to “a spiderweb”. Israeli PM Netanyahu warned the conflict “could be a long war“ but added that Israel is doing what it can to avoid civilian casualties. French President Macron called for a “decisive relaunch” of the Palestinian peace process.
