Tchaikovsky / Nathan Milstein, 1961: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 - Steinberg, PSO - Complete

In this 1961 performance, fifty-seven year old Nathan Milstein (1904-1992) performs the Tchaikovsky violin concerto in D major, Op. 35. William Steinberg leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. I created this video from the LP shown above (4:12), issued in 1962 on the Angel label, serial number 35686. So that there is no question in the mind of those as to the provenance of the recording to which they are listening, I rely principally on images of the LP (side 1, 4:12; side 2, 24:16) and LP jacket (front, 4:48; reverse, 29:06) in order to document the authenticity of historically important recordings such as these. 1. Allegro moderato 2. Canzonetta - Andante (16:58) 3. Finale - Allegro vivacissimo (23:22)
