Canada marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Saturday

Hundreds of events are being held across Canada today and tomorrow to mark Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - a day to recognize and reflect on the horrific legacy of Canada’s residential school system. You can visit your local Friendship Centre to learn more about what’s happening and how to participate. Everyone is encouraged to come out and attend Orange Shirt Day events to educate themselves and learn more about the Indigenous community, as well as reading the 94 calls to action. We acknowledge that we, CHCH, on Innovation Drive, are within the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. As a part of the city of Hamilton, we are also situated among the traditional territories of the Neutral and Haudenosaunee, on land which is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We thank the Mississaugas of the Credit and our First Nations neighbours for sharing this land with us, and we commit ourselves to listening, learning, celebrating, and developing respectful and meaningful relationships with one another. #news #indigenous #orangeshirtday #nationalday #truthandreconciliation #canada #canadianpolitics
