Four-Year-Old Killed in Ukraine is Buried

The funeral for a 4-year-old girl that was killed in a missile attack in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, was held July 17, 2022. The 4-year-old, named Liza, was killed when missiles struck a residential area of Vinnytsia on Thursday. The attack, which killed 23 others, was condemned by Ukraine’s government, and a video of Liza taken by her mother, Iryna Dmytrieva, just moments before the attack was widely shared. Russian missiles hit the strategic southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv on Sunday, even as Moscow’s forces pounded Ukraine’s eastern region with new attacks. Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych said that the Russian missiles struck an industrial and infrastructure facility in the city, a key shipbuilding center. There was no immediate information about casualties. The Russian military says it is trying to cut off access to Ukraine’s entire Black Sea coast. Early in the five-month war, Ukrainian forces fought off Russian attempts to capture Mykolaiv, which sits near the Black Sea Coast between Russia-occupied Crimea and the main Ukrainian port of Odesa.
