First “Paper Champ“ of the Heavyweight Division

My thoughts on Marvin Hart being the first paper champion of the Heavyweight Division. Hart won the vacant crown after James Jeffries retired undefeated with nothing else to prove. Hart fought Jack Root for the vacant title. Many fans and media still believed Jeffries was the real champ although he retired.
