Brain imaging study shows that lonely individuals “process the world idiosyncratically“

A new brain imaging study suggests lonely individuals process social information differently. Researchers sought to investigate whether inter-subject correlations (ISCs) in brain activity during a movie-watching task are associated with loneliness. ISC measures the similarity in brain activity between two or more individuals. It has been used in previous studies to investigate how individuals process and respond to social information.
