On 13 October 1989, ITN’s cameras captured the rhythms of daily life in Tashkent, the capital of the Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan. The crew recorded scenes on the streets, in the markets, and in the government district, filming the brutalist architecture and vast monuments to the fathers of Soviet ideology Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin.
