I’ve always loved the blues piano of Jimmy Yancey.
Born in Chicago in 1901, he was a pioneer of early boogie woogie and blues piano.
He developed a unique and ingenious style which had a distinctive sound. His playing was very expressive but yet relaxed, subtle and uncomplicated... 12 bar blues music using the major and minor blues scale.
I wrote this piece as a tribute to Jimmy Yancey.
