Video description: Are you scheduled to receive a pacemaker? How is a pacemaker actually implanted. Patients want to know what will happen during their pacemaker procedure. In this video, Dr. James Kneller walks you through a pacemaker implant procedure. This is for a dual chamber pacemaker, meaning that a pacing lead is placed in both the top and bottom chambers of the heart. The lead in the bottom chamber is placed in the His bundle position to allow for physiologic pacing, which is fast becoming the preferred implantation technique. The pacemaker is implanted from the left side, which is the most common approach, and ideally suited for patients who are right handed. Enjoy! Please leave your comments and questions below.
