Chita Rivera, the original 1975 Velma, shifted to Roxie when she performed (in Toronto, Las Vegas, and London) in the ’96 Broadway revival staging of “Chicago.“ For the tenth anniversary celebration of the revival in 2006, Rivera switched back to perform Velma’s opening number.
