Sharif Idu is a Sufi artist from Punjab who represents four hundred years old Dhadhi, a tradition that originated from great Sikh guru Hargobind. Characteristic for his way of singing are abrupt yet extremely controlled breaks in melodic structure that blend with accidental notes played Sarangi (string instrument called ’the instrument of a hundred colors’).
