Democrat Leader Offers To Help Republican Become Speaker Of The House

The GOP having won back the House in the midterm elections, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has the inside track to become the next Speaker. But with such a slim margin favoring Republicans, just a few defections in the caucus could doom his Speaker bid. Enter Democratic House member Jim Clyburn, who suggested that McCarthy could turn to Democrats for help as long as he’d be willing to push “bipartisan” policies in exchange for Dem support.
