Once in a Blue Moon - Caleb Burhans

Once in a Blue Moon by Caleb Burhans performed by Katie Miksh, harp Kyle Hughes, marimba *note* this performance was done without any of the repeats. This was an interesting piece to work on with Katie. It contains a few themes and motifs that the composer expands upon both rhythmically and harmonically. The middle section, which we dubbed the “chaos section“ had me working very hard, which was a nice challenge. I think both Katie and I enjoyed the “dark“ section near the end for its mood and color change.
