Making “chiptune“ music using LSDJ - an introduction
Update: I’ve been informed that since version 8, LSDJ is now a free download so you can try out this excellent software at zero cost!
I make all the music on my channel’s videos using an original Nintendo Game Boy and a piece of software called Littlesound DJ, or LSDJ as it’s commonly known.
Wait, you can make music with a Nintendo Game Boy? Yes that’s right. This isn’t a tutorial so much as a quick overview of just what’s going on when people use these handheld classics to create the nostalgic bleeps and bloops associated with what’s known as “Chiptune“ music.
There are lots of tutorials out there made by people more expert than me and much better at explaining what to do, but this video is intended as an insight into what that seemingly impenetrable screen of numbers and letters actually means and how people use it to make songs. I hope it’s interesting :D

I’ll be posting my full live set to this channel at some point after the show as well as more content about my setup for playing the set.
