Carl Wayne: Greensleeves

Although my channel is mostly geared up for lovers of retro kids’ shows, I do live in hope that fans of 60s band The Move are discovering these few previously unavailable nuggets from lead singer Carl Wayne. He played Odd Job John in the Boggle’s Kingdom segments of Rod Hull and Emu’s various shows between 1983 and 1988, and whenever he got to sing, he always brought a real touch of class to proceedings. There’s no hint of ’it’s only for children’ or anything like that - we’re always treated to a first class vocal performance, this being no exception. The song is of course a rocked-up version of Greensleeves (in 4/4, no less). Conventional wisdom says that Henry VIII wrote the piece, but I gather that’s been pretty much discredited. Even if it hadn’t, I wouldn’t believe it anyway.
