The ‘illusion’ of green energy has come ‘crumbling’ down in Europe

Menzies Research Centre’s Nick Cater says Europe is struggling with energy and the “illusion“ of getting by with just wind, solar and batteries has “come crumbling”. “Their dirty little secret they were getting all that gas and coal from Russia just to keep the home fires burning when the windmills weren’t running - that’s come home to roost now,” Mr Cater told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “We need a reliable base load source and if it’s not gonna be coal … and gas for base load on that scale, then it has to be nuclear.“
