Sir Anthony Eden Receives Freedom Of Perth (1956)

Unissued / Unused material. British Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden receives Freedom of Perth. Tayside, Scotland. LS Sir Anthony and Lady Eden, the Lord Provost James Smart and others on platform, the audience applaud. MS as party take their seats. MS and CU as the Town Clerk reads the Burgess Ticket. MS as Lord Provost stands and addresses Sir Anthony, he says that Perth is particularly pleased that it is the first Scottish borough to admit him to the Burgess, he goes on to say he hopes Sir Anthony will remember this day with pleasure, and that the citizens of Perth are proud to call him fellow Burgess. He also comments on his efforts to produce world peace. CU as the Lord Provost hands the silver casket to Sir Anthony who accepts it amidst applause, then shows it to Lady Eden. MS Sir Anthony with his right hand raised, he takes the oath. There is laughter when Sir Anthony takes out his own fountain pen to sign the scroll, in preference to the large quill pen offered by the Lord Provost. CU as
