Army Bakers (1914-1918)

Location of events unknown. 1914 - 1918? Various shots of army bakers at work at a line of outdoor clay and brick ovens during the First World War. Workers use long-handled tools to take the bread out of the rather crude-looking ovens. Smoke rises from the edges of the ovens as the bread bakes. Covers are held in place over the oven mouths by sticks. Two men carry a load of bread loaves along past the cooking area. More shots of men removing bread from the ovens and stacking the loaves up behind them. Soldiers stand watching. World War One, cooking, labour. Modified WPA record.
