Reel 1. “His Majesty in Command - Combined Fleets exercise off Spithead - Pathe Gazette“. Battle practice in Weymouth. Royal yacht “Victoria and Albert“ with the King on board (not seen but spoken of). Large number of warships in the harbour. The Mediterranean fleet with its battleships and cruisers in two lines. Ships of the home fleet follow and on the horizon swarms of cruisers, destroyers and submarines. Shooting practice. Large guns are fired from the deck of boats. Big clouds of smoke. Inside the gun turret we see men loading the guns. Moving machinery. Men in naval uniform. C/U of ends of guns as they are fired. Men in naval uniform look through binoculars at wireless controlled aeroplanes. Officer blows his whistle and gives the order to splice the main brace. The name “Cairo“ is visible on the side of the boat. Young sailors give a cheer for the King and wave their hats. A boy plays the bugle.
