New Phosphorescent Screen Bombs (1914-1918)

New Phosphorescent screen bombs. Location of events unknown. Title frame: New Phosphorescent Screen Bombs used during the last fighting on this front. (This film is used by permission of the US government.) Shot from behind of a few American soldiers throwing bombs; and then crouching behind some rocks. That looked fairly normal. But next it looks like a fireworks display; with something bursting high in the air; then fingers of smoke streaming down all the way to the ground; ending in tall smoky cloud towers. Next, pan along soldiers squatting on ground; shooting these phosphorescent bombs. To right in distance is the same sort of dramatic visual display; then just a large amount of smoke. Soldier pulling pin out of the grenade version; then throwing it. Nearly the whole screen filled up with shooting strings of whatever; almost like a big splash. Exciting. While it’s in the big cloud of smoke phase; it provides cover for 4 more soldiers to run forward and throw more. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BR
