Heraklia Ancient City is beside Bafa Lake in Turkey aydın. there are Tombs of the Kings in this place. it is on latmos mountain and lacated between Aydın and Muğla in Turkey [2021] The city is located in today’s Kapıkırı Village, 39 km from Milas. away. The city had the Gulf of Latmos, which was an extension of the Aegean Sea in ancient times. However, as a result of being filled with alluvium brought by the Menderes River, the bay turned into today’s Bafa Lake. Although the city is geographically located on the border of Ionia and Caria, even in the Ionian region, it has been accepted as a typical Carian city with its character and historical background. The city took its name from the famous mythological hero Heracles. While its name was Latmos in the 8th century BC, it passed into the hands of the Carian Satrap Mausolos during the Persians. As a result of Alexander’s Asian expedition, it was connected to the sovereignty of the Alexander Empire and lat
