Massive US Military Deployment Shakes the Port Alexandroupoli with Aircraft and Tactical Vehicles
As part of this enormous military convoy of hitherto unheard-of proportions, a sizable contingent of artillery, tanks, cannons, humvees, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are anticipated to arrive in Greece.
The 839th Transportation Battalion Surface Deployment and Distribution Command began unloading more than 300 pieces of equipment for training in Europe when the Liberty Promise, a commercial ship out of New York, anchored in Alexandroupoli, Greece.
For the U.S. Army, the Alexandroupoli Port has grown in significance in recent years. The port, which is an illustration of the growth in the quantity and variety of ports the U.S. Army can use throughout the theater, is situated in the strategically significant southern European region.
