Long Train Runnin’ - Bass Playalong

Playing along to a backing track of Doobie Brothers’ 1973 hit “Long Train Runnin’“ with my Alembic Essence bass guitar. ABOUT THE SONG Tom Johnston, guitarist, vocalist and co-founder of “The Doobie Brothers“ wrote “Long Train Runnin’“ in 1973. “Long Train Runnin’“ was developed after a song that the band played as a jam years before it was recorded. Tom Johnston not only wrote the song, but he also played the disctintive guitar riff, sang the lyrics and even played the harmonica solo. Originally released as a 7“ vinyl single, the song was included in “The Captain and Me“, third studio album of the band. Produced by Ted Templeman, “Long Train Runnin’ peaked at position 8 at the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Doobie Brothers’ bassist, Tiran Porter, played the bass part for the original recording.
