Richard Wagner - Ernest Schelling Prelude to Tristan und Isolde - Risto-Matti Marin, piano

Risto-Matti Marin plays Ernest Schelling’s transcription of Wagner’s Tristan overture in concert 2008. Unlike Paderewski’s famous recording of Schelling’s arrangement, this version includes Wagner’s concert ending for the piece which, according to Schelling’s advice, is to be played when this transcription is not followed by Liszt’s arrangement of Liebestod. Marin’s Wagner transcription CD was released in January 2013 on Alba Records (). The program includes transcriptions by Liszt, Brassin, Tausig, Nykänen, Schelling and Busoni.
