The Qingming Festival among the 24 Solar Terms

Qingming, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, is one of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar. In terms of ancestral worship, Qingming, Chuxi, Yufu, and Jiuyi are the four major traditional festivals for ancestor veneration. It falls on April 4th, 5th, or 6th of the Gregorian calendar when the sun reaches 15 degrees of celestial longitude. According to the “Compendium of the 72 Phenological Terms,“ ’In the third month, when this solar term arrives, all things are clean and clear.’
