In 1987, as Les Reines des Couteaux, Muda Mathis, Teresa Alonso and Regina Florida Schmid staged their first performance in an underground space in Basel. The founding members of the group are all visual artists; they created music by chopping vegetables as you would for soup, singing, and adding synthesizer sounds. A year later, the group re-formed as Les Reines Prochaines, creating music and multimedia-performances in association with new members: Fränzi Madörin and Pipilotti Rist. The present line-up is: Michèle Fuchs, Fränzi Madörin, Muda Mathis and Sus Zwick.
