At least 11 dead as bridge collapses in China

At least 11 people were killed when a bridge collapsed into a river following torrential rain and flash flooding in northern China, according to state media. The road crossing in the city of Shangluo, in Shaanxi province, gave way at about local time on Friday. More than 30 people remained missing as the rescue operation continued on Saturday, according to the state broadcaster CCTV. The 11 confirmed victims were found inside five vehicles which have been recovered from the river. Another 20 vehicles are believed to have gone into the water.
