Head Sculpture - The Planes of the Head Art

my instagram : Head Sculpture - Planes of the Head This is part one of Head Sculpture - Planes of the Head. In this video we will take a look at the basic planes of the head using plasticine. You can try sculpting the head with wood, stone or wax if you wish. When first carving the head i recommend starting with your larger major masses first, being the temple region and side region of the cheek bone. I purposefully carved the head because there are very few videos on youtube show how to carve the head in clay or plasticine. Most head tutorials add clay rather than substract clay and in my opinion it is much more difficult to deduce clay in portraits. Once you create this head you can have a good resource for drawing the head as well putting it into different angles and drawing from it much like you would with an Asaro head just a much more portable version.
