2023 19-25 July Kashmir Trip - Just Us BOAT HOUSE Video 03 Google Album Photo link Facebook album link Trip details & my sharings link On the 26th of jult 2023 we moved to our boat house to spend the night there. I was pretty disappointed at least on two counts, I was given to understand the it would be exclusively for us, But we had to share it with another foreigner guy (a nice guy). The other was that the boat would be moving around (as in Kerala) But it was no so! In fact I later checked & found that the house boats in Kashmir never move! The house boat it self was decorated with Kashmiri hand woven drapes Kashmiri carpets & upholstery. I was pretty impressed. The bathroom had a tub shower & nice fittings. BUT it was only a show, nothing worked! We had to bathe with a bucket of water standing in the tub, With cold water dripping from the inoperative shower fixture. Quite a disappointment. My wife as usual got talking to the locals that showed her a lot of Kashmiri art & hand made materials. I enjoyed the scenery, the setting sun & then even the night time still, calm waters & the lights in the background. I have taken a few photos & short videos of the same. We ate a simple dinner provided in special Kashmiri vessels, More like the chinaware of old. Electricity was a problem too & was restored only at about 6pm. It rained heavily in the night & we were awoken by our host, Requesting us to shut the windows of our bedroom. I didn’t sleep after that. At around 6 am again sat out & watched the awesome scenery, Nature awaking to daybreak, - the water birds, skimming over the waters then suddenly dipping to catch their meal of fish snow capped mountains in a distance.
