Bear cub rescue success! COVID, you can’t stop us!

At the end of April we learnt of 2 orphaned moon bear cubs that needed our help. Just as we had approval for the rescue Laos experienced it’s first major COVID outbreak & the entire country went into strict lockdown. But we kept fighting to find a way to help the cubs & eventually our government partners for Xayaboury Department of Forest Inspection were able to confiscate the cubs &, in a very unusual handover, we met them on a bridge that marked the provincial border which nobody could cross. It was the most glorious location for a wonderful rescue. Please enjoy watching the rescue and days which followed. These are just 2 of the hundreds of endangered moon bears & sun bears that we have rescued & care for at our sanctuaries. Without protected forest suitable for release, we have to give them the best life we can as a small & struggling Australian nonprofit charity.
