Die Loreley [German folk song][+English translation]

This version is sung by the wonderful Mireille Matthieu. The song, written by Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) and set to music by Friedrich Silcher (1789-1860), sings about a legendary sorceress, who is waiting for her lover on the Loreley rock on the Rhine near Oberwesel, and distracts the boatmen with her singing, so that they hit the reefs and sink down. Some kind of german siren tale.
