(22 May 2020) LEAD IN: A robot is taking traditional Russian art to the masses. Live video of an industrial robot drawing old designs is being streamed online 24 hours a day, ensuring everyone who’s interested gets a chance to see the robot artist. STORY-LINE: This robot’s name is Maksim. It used be an industrial robot, welding car parts, now it has a new role  as an artist recreating ancient Russian ornamental designs. It wields six felt-tip pens which have a non-stop supply of ink via a drip system. The organiser and creator of the project called is Maria Loleyt. “The idea of a robot arose because we thought, okay, we have the task of taking old archaic patterns and make the modern audience think about them. What tool do we need? It became clear that we needed a paradox, and we needed something as modern as possible. There were different ideas, but as a result we decided to use a robot because it is a little like a human being,“ says Loleyt
