Matthew Modine on why To Kill a Mockingbird role is more than ’just a role that I want to play’

Golden Globe-winner and Stranger Things actor Matthew Modine joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about starring in Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. From Monday 21st November, the American actor is set to take on the role of Atticus Finch, in an adaptation from West Wing and Social Network creator Sorkin, at London’s Gielgud Theatre. Matthew told Chris: “It’s an amazing part and it’s an important part. While it’s about systemic racism in the United States, and the judicial system, it’s about something much bigger. It’s about anybody who has to run away from something because they’re scared, and because of their race, or their religion. It’s about that. It’s about something that happens around the world. Justice is supposed to be blind, and if we can’t get a fair trial because of our sexual orientation, or our sex, or the colour of our skin, then the judicial system is a lie.” ✪Website: ✪Twitter: https://
