These tips WILL make you climb harder grades!

Alex is synonymous with climbing some of the hardest boulders in the world. In fact she has climbed more V14s than any other female climber! This is all thanks to projecting - the art of pushing your grade. In this video, Alex shares some useful tips that are very easy to apply to your own sessions. This video is sponsored by @COROSGlobal One of the reasons we wanted to partner with COROS was that they wanted to invest in climbing. They genuinely want their wearables to be useful for climbing and climbers. Having started in more mainstream activities such as running and cycling, they are now developing climbing specific workouts. We are helping them too! The latest update includes a bouldering specific workout. You can simply click bouldering and start and track each and every one of your climbs or you can create your own workout in the App/training hub, including the warm-up and cool down, to help track your sessions as a whole. This is what we tend to do. We are helping COROS develop this feature t add value to you and your sessions. Keep an eye out for more info coming soon and let us know what you’d like to see the watch be capable of. #trainwithcoros Go check out for more info and how to purchase your own watch - use the code ‘ROAP’ at checkout to get a free accessory. We highly recommend it! Back to the session and the important points of this video: Projecting is something you have to learn how to do and enjoy it too as sometimes it can be frustrating. We all know and agree it can be fun going around your gym or local crag and climbing a load of problems, but the hard truth is that if you’re topping it, it’s not going to be really pushing you. If you’re failing, then you will need to try harder, be wiser and even learn the nuances of the climb. These aspects ask more from you and therefore make you a better climber overall. It is still important to try and flash climbs as this is a skill set in its own right, but we see many shy away from proper projecting as it is humbling. It exposes your weaknesses and can often leave you feeling a little beaten up - defeated. But, look past this. See it as development, learning a new skill, getting better. If you stick with it, you’ll learn to love it and cherish the micro-gains. 00:00 Intro 00:46 Let go of your ego 01:33 End-pointing 03:25 NEW MERCHANDISE - email us at clothing@ to secure yours (only 200 being made) 04:05 Don’t just try one method 04:54 COROS Bouldering feature advert 06:00 Brush your holds!! 06:44 Assess and review 07:01 You don’t always have to start from the beginning 09:22 use other holds to help you learn the movement patterns - feet and/or hand holds 12:05 do not give up too easily! 13:24 will it go? 14:01 sometimes it goes and sometimes it doesn’t - that’s OK! 14:22 use friends for power spots to help learn the movement and gain confidence 15:20 - learn to take the falls PROGRESSIVELY.
