Paris, France / Frankreich / Francia Live from the French capital on Tuesday, March 28 as thousands of citizens take to the streets to protest against President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to force through his pension reform. A tenth day strikes and demonstrations was called all over the country. According to the unions around 3.5 million people participate in nation-wide protests. The Macron government survived two no-confidence motions a week ago, one by just nine votes, after it used executive powers to pass the reforms without a vote in the National Assembly last Thursday. Demonstrations and strikes against the plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 took place in cities all across the country in recent months, including heavy clashes between protesters and police, drawing concerns from the Council of Europe’s human rights commissioner.
